Düsseldorf is a metropolis with lots to offer. It’s a fashionable and active city that has plenty of cultural attractions, including, of course, the “longest bar in the world.” For 18 years now, the Jazz Rally has been a highlight of the local cultural calendar.
The quality and the diversity of the music that will play at more than 70 concerts on 30 stages over the Pentecost weekend is so great that it’s impossible to give an overview of the entire event here. That’s why we’re going to provide only a few brief notes. Once again, the first sounds of the festival will ring out at the picturesque Kaiserswerther Kaiserpfalz to tunes by the winner of the traditional jazz competition in Palma de Mallorca, among others.
The special concert from our main sponsor Vodafone promises a laid-back and relaxing evening. The groovy sounds of reggae artist Gentleman along with the sunset at the airberlin Hangar 8 at Düsseldorf Airport are sure to provide an unforgettable experience. The old town’s musical center will again be the concert tent on the Burgplatz. With the quality and quantity of concert performances from artists including Candy Dulfer, Jan Akkerman, Omar, and the much-loved Jazz Rally Soul Session, this single venue boasts its own festival-like charm. But at Jazz Rally, this is just one of over 30 stages – (almost) all of which are accessible for one price. And that’s one-of-a-kind in Germany.
We’re especially excited about our collaboration with the Polish Cultural Institute, as well as the concert in commemoration of “Chopin Year 2010,” which honors the composer and pianist’s 200th birthday. The event’s patronage remains in the capable hands of Klaus Doldinger, the musical director for Ali Haurand and Nils Gropp.
Special thanks go out to all our countless sponsors, without whom almost two decades of the Düsseldorf Jazz Rally would have been impossible to realize. Also, their support has made this local festival the largest of its kind in Germany.

The Jazz Rally is 18, but it’s already been “all grown up” for many years thanks to your enthusiasm and to the encouragement of approximately 300,000 additional jazz fans. Stay loyal!
