Welcome to the
17th Düsseldorf Jazz Rally!
!

On behalf of Destination Düsseldorf, I am once again pleased to welcome you to Germany’s largest jazz festival! Our city is all about music during the 17th Düsseldorf Jazz Rally, which is why diversity and high-quality concerts are festival trademarks.

The 17th Jazz Rally is happening during a particularly special year as Destination Düsseldorf is celebrating its 20th anniversary. Companies from the city and region in our association have been committed to making our area more well-known and attractive for two decades now. The shining star of DD has undoubtedly been the Jazz Rally since 1993. It has been transforming the Rhine metropolis into a meeting point for music and jazz fans from near and far year after year and will do so again in 2009.

What’s more, the special concert supported by our main sponsor Vodafone is a highlight of the weekend. Jan Delay will see to it that everyone is grooving to the beat in the airberlin hangar 8 with his unmistakable voice. The concert tent on Burgplatz, the “heart” of the festival, will also offer unforgettable evenings with Nils Landgren’s Funk Unit and Incognito.

We are especially pleased to announce a new venue. The Jazz Rally will move into the new Henkel-Saal in the SCHLÖSSER Quartier Bohème just in time for the anniversary. The Henkel-Saal will heat up the festival by hosting three hot concerts. And there’s even another reason to celebrate: the establishment of the city partnership between Düsseldorf and Warsaw in 1989. Concerts by Anna Maria Jopek & Band as well as the Tomasz Stanko Quartet honor this occasion.

The artistic direction of the Jazz Rally lies once again in the extremely capable hands of Ali Haurand, supported by the patron Klaus Doldinger, who will appear again with Passport. The preview concerts on Thursday, May 28th in the picturesque Kaiserswerth Kaiserpfalz mean that the festival fun will last for four days – but this city can never get too much music.

Let the rhythm move you through more than 70 concerts on more than 30 stages, featuring many jazz styles and related music styles like blues, funk, soul and rock.

Get ready to discover the swinging and
dancing jazz capital of Germany and
celebrate the 17th Düsseldorf Jazz Rally!
